Strictly speaking, a Prevost Motorhome is a conversion coach. And although these are not what we are looking for, they are great for inspiration. In the same way that the top-end luxury yacht market raises the standard for other manufacturers, the Prevost coach converters maintain an important part of the motorhome market – the motorcoach.

Prevost manufactures integrated chassis and body structures, providing the strongest, safest and most durable foundations in the industry. Prevost conversion vehicles, amongst which we find motor homes, are regarded as the benchmark for structural integrity, durability, reliability, safety, environmental care, and driving pleasure. The result of a conversion could be any one of:

  • a private luxury motorhome
  • transportation in comfort and style for an entertainer, the artists and crew
  • a mobile marketing vehicle
  • a mobile clinic
  • a haven for corporate executive meetings, travel and entertainment
  • political campaign transportation

From their factory in Canada they work with their converter partners and the end customer to create vehicles to the specifications required by all. Then their converter partners provide custom interiors, designed to meet the specific needs and desires of each individual client.

Liberty Coach

As for many initiatives, Liberty Coach was formed out of frustration in the founders’ personal search for excellence in luxury motor coach construction. Founded in 1968 and incorporated in 1972, they have an interesting approach to building luxury motorhomes – they limit their new build to just 14 per year. Yes, that’s right one-four. As well as that, whenever they sell a second-hand / used / pre-loved Liberty Coach, they basically refit the whole thing and bring it back to new. It’s no wonder their coaches hold their value so well.

Marathon Coach

Marathon Coach is the world’s largest luxury bus converter and dealer. Using new, premium, commercial bus chassis supplied by Prevost, Marathon custom produces luxury motorcoaches equipped with the finest materials and most advanced components and technology available. And the results are stunning!

Millennium Luxury Coaches

With their roots in the luxury yacht business, Millennium Coaches produce motorhomes that have eye-popping value. Determined be the best, not the biggest, they have an excellent set of floorplans that we will use to influence and inspire our own design.

Corporate History

Prevost began way back in 1924 and has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Volvo Bus Group in Canada since 1995. Naturally, that means they use Volvo power trains and adhere to Volvo quality and safety standards. You can find a timeline here: http://motorhome.prevostcar.com/heritage/history-highlights

Prevost Motorhome: Our Conclusion

While we would love to own a Prevost Motorhome, we think shipping it could create a few problems. Also the very low ground clearance and minimal attack and departure angles could cause problems.

However, we love the floorplans and layouts and will be using them as inspiration for our own designs. In fact, looking at the Prevost and other coach conversions is moving us away from considering a truck-based motorhome and towards a bus conversion.
